Micro Tourism Wales (MTW) aims to be an effective lobby group for small tourism businesses in Wales.
MTW founder members are all involved in what could be described as Glamping - offering overnight stays, in rural areas, in accommodation that ranges from treehouses to yurts and shepherd's huts.
The organisation was initially formed to present the industry to government against the backdrop of the Corona Virus outbreak - and to highlight the unique features of rural, small-scale tourism business - their key role in the economic success of remote communities, and the features of this form of tourism that uniquely lend themselves to safe operation early in the re-opening pathway.
The unifying features of MTW members include;
Small-scale employers (between 1 and 10 employees)
Rural location
Accommodation providers with up to 12 units
Units with generally private facilities
Typically offering short stays - of a week or less
Accommodations situated reasonably far apart
